FROM THE DESK OF MS. HAUGEN
A big congratulations to the following students for performing at State Solo and Ensemble and earning a superior rating: Levi Barwick, McKenna Parker, Christian Magar, Casey Caulkins, Maxwell Van Hoeij, Rachel Baek, William Yaakob and Nicholas Voss. Congratulations to Tessa Yeackley for earning a superior with distinction (playing music selection completely from memory). And congratulations to Aidan Gonzalez for earning an excellent rating!
All of these students have gone above and beyond to work on their craft! We will have another group of students perform at the state level on April 9th-10th.
Solo and Ensemble Update
All students who did not perform in the February Solo and Ensemble event are registered for the April 23rd-24th event. If your student plays a woodwind or brass instrument and is performing a solo, they will need to contact an accompanist to record with. If you need any more information, please see attachment for accompanist details.
All-District Band Update
Thursday, April 8th: 6-8 PM Reading Rehearsal at Leon High School field. Students should bring a chair and stand for themselves to use
Thursday, April 15th: 6-9 PM Clinician Rehearsal with Mr. Schwindt at Cobb Middle School basketball court, then gym. Students should bring a chair and stand each. Info on parking will be sent out as the event gets closer.
Friday, April 16th: 9 AM-4 PM; 6-8 PM at Gene Cox Stadium. Students may not leave for the 4-6 dinner break.
Saturday, April 17th: 1-4 PM Clinician rehearsal (this rehearsal is at the discretion of the clinician; the clinician may decide to cancel and will give students notice on Friday) with Concert at 7 PM at Gene Cox.
**For any of the above Gene Cox or Leon High School rehearsals—if there is rain, the backup location will be Cobb Middle School**
Composite Photos
There will be a photographer to be at school on THIS Tuesday, March 30 to take photos of all the band students. It is a gold day, so Concert Brass & Winds and Jazz Band will have their photos during class. Symphonic Band, Percussion and Digital Academy students will need to come during either lunch A or B or after school for their photos. An order form will be sent out before picture day. Students will be wearing a marching band jacket and will use their instrument/sticks/flag for pictures. There will be a separate email sent out this week with specifics.
Trojan Band Leadership Information
It’s time to start getting ready for next year! If you are interested in being on leadership or want more information, please see a current student leader or Ms. Haugen. We will pass out Leadership Applications on April 1st.
Booster Elections
We will be having an in person and Zoom General Booster Meeting on Monday, May 3 at 6pm in the LHS Auditorium. We will be social-distancing and masks will be required for everyone who attends. We will be holding Booster Board Elections and talking about upcoming events.
We are looking for some new members for the Trojan Band Booster Board to replace some outgoing parents, including Secretary and Hospitality Chair. If you have questions or are interested in being nominated for these or any other Booster Board position, please contact Debi Menacof, head of the Nominating Committee at debimenacof@gmail.com.
